APPOINTMENTS

As a practice we are constantly reviwing our appointment system to ensure that we meet the needs of our patients.

Our aim is:

• To provide care to patients who have a medical problem which needs to be dealt with on the same day.
• To facilitate 'continuity of care' by having sufficient appointments available to allow patients to book in advance with the GP of their choice.

Our 'Same Day Service' is provided  by our team of highly trained and experienced nurses in conjunction with one of our GPs.

If you are undergoing a period of 'on going medical care' you are invited to book appointments in advance, with the G.P of your choice.

Our doctors currently offer 10 minute appointments.  We recognise that  some problems may take longer to sort out than was anticipated, if you feel you will need more time please say when booking your appointment, it may be possible to give you a double appointment.

When booking appointments, you may be asked a number of questions by our receptionists, they will try  to make this as easy  as possible, asking these questions will ensure that you are booked in to see the most appropriate clinician.

We do try to keep to time but we ask you to be patient if you find there is a delay. Our receptionists will notify you on arrival if a clinic is running more than 10 minutes late, if you haven’t been told and you are kept waiting please feel free to ask why. 

If you wish to speak with a doctor or nurse on the telephone please ask the receptionist to take your phone number and the doctor or nurse will phone you back later in the day

We offer pre-bookable appointments 4 evenings a week until 8p.m

Appointments can be made by:

Telephone - phone lines are open from 8.30 a.m to 6.30 p.m

In person by visiting the surgery,  we are unable to book appointments after 6.30p.m for the following day as these are for patients that are required to be seen for clincal reasons on that day.  Appointments required for a future date are available to be booked at any time.

We are hoping to offer an appointment booking system via this website within the next few months (as at August 2010).

Home Visits

Doctors find it increasingly difficult to fit in to their working day all that is required and home visiting has had to become far less commonplace than it was.

We do ask patients to try very hard to arrange transport to the surgery, using taxis, public transport and friends and we would encourage people with time and transport to please offer their help to relations and neighbours who find transport difficult.
